SSTL at the 2025 Small Satellite Conference: A Fixture in the Mountains

SSTL at the 2025 Small Satellite Conference: A Fixture in the Mountains
We were delighted once again to attend the Annual Small Satellite Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, an event that has become a long-standing highlight of our calendar. SSTL has been coming to Utah since this pioneering gathering first took shape in the 1980s — and nearly four decades later, it remains a firm favourite.

This year’s conference was no exception.

Our stand in the main exhibit hall was buzzing throughout the week, with Emma Turnbull (main pic), SSTL’s tireless Events Manager, holding the fort and welcoming visitors from across the global space community. We were proud to showcase our latest missions and capabilities, and to connect with partners, customers, and new contacts.

On the conference programme, Alex da Silva (pictured below) delivered an engaging presentation on “Commercial and Scientific Opportunities for a Smallsat Climate Constellation,” outlining how constellations of small satellites can contribute meaningfully to global climate monitoring — a subject of increasing relevance and urgency.

And on the media side, SSTL Founder and Chairman Sir Martin Sweeting was interviewed by Mike Gruss for the Space Minds Podcast by Space News. The wide-ranging discussion reflected on SSTL’s role in transforming access to space and what lies ahead for the small satellite sector. (Link to the full video is below, under the pic.)
