SSTL runs a fully automated Mission Control Centre which monitors customer satellites 24 hours a day. The Spacecraft Operations Team conducts tasking procedures, monitor downloaded telemetry and payload data and monitor spacecraft health, undertaking maintenance when required.

Low Earth orbiting satellites pass overhead several times each day, downloading collected data with each pass. As well as 'tasked' data, such as Earth observation images, the health of the satellite is monitored through recording various parameters such as the onboard temperature, power system status and attitude of the satellite.

For customers who choose to manage their own in-orbit operations, SSTL can supply and install a complete ground segment solution as well as operations training and ongoing support throughout the Mission lifetime.
