Cerise (1996)

First recorded and verified unintentional space debris impact by two man-made objects in Earth orbit, Cerise (1996)

The gravity-gradient stabilisation boom on Cerise was hit by a space debris object from an Ariane rocket.  The satellite survived, but with over 4 metres of the boom destroyed, its performance was inevitably compromised.
